A fusion of flavours
Toquicimes 2023 invites visitors to immerse themselves in the rustic world of the farm while exploring the infinite richness of cuisine over three days. Festival-goers will have the chance to sample innovative dishes concocted by renowned chefs, all in an exceptional rural setting.
A mouth-watering programme
In a joyous, festive atmosphere known as “la rioule” in Savoyard dialect, Toquicimes is cooking up a series of tasty events throughout the festival, to be enjoyed without moderation, with family or friends. The chefs will be offering a host of interactive culinary demonstrations based on sharing, sharing and discovering local produce, as well as workshops and several competitions. Whether reserved for professionals or open to the general public, these competitions offer incredible moments of complicity, including some famous ones such as:
MEGÈVE’S BEST FONDUE: A COMPETITION TO MELT YOUR HEART
This competition pits Megevan restaurateurs against each other in the making of this typical Savoyard mountain dish, under the watchful eyes of the jury in the village square.
THE BEST MOUNTAIN PÂTÉ: A CRISP COMPETITION
Reserved for professionals in the culinary trades, this highly flavoursome competition takes its place on the international gastronomic table, inviting the elite of French cuisine to present their creations to the jury.
CHEESE PIE FROM OUR MOUNTAINS: A FAMILY COMPETITION
This year, our mountain cheese pies will be in the spotlight at the Family Competition. It will be held on Saturday 21 October 2023 in the temporary hamlet of this off-site event. Open to all, entries for the Family Competition are open until 14 October 2023.
This is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the gastronomic weekend, as it gives candidates the chance to present their best local recipes, whether original or revisited, but always rooted in a traditional family history.
JE CUISINE AVEC MON BOXEUR DE CHEF: AN ENTERTAINING COMPETITION
In the village square, the chefs accompany and help novices to prepare a set dish. Instead of donning their chef’s hats, the professionals don boxing gloves. As the chefs are unable to handle the ingredients or other utensils, the commis chefs have to get to grips with the recipe and follow the advice of the seasoned cooks. It’s the perfect way to enjoy some great moments of complicity as you prepare a dish worthy of the finest restaurants.
THE TOQUICIMES CHARTREUSE® TROPHY: A CREATIVE COMPETITION
Toquicimes invites students and barmen in France to submit their best culinary cocktail based on this ancestral elixir to the jury. The jury, made up of professionals representing the excellence of the French bar trade, gastronomy experts and personalities from the Megevan area, will examine
An eco-responsible gourmet market
The festival isn’t just about tasting and discovering, it’s also offering an eco-responsible gourmet market. Local producers and craftspeople will be showcasing their fresh, organic and artisanal products. This initiative not only supports the local economy, but also highlights the importance of healthy, sustainable eating.
A family-friendly event
Toquicimes à la Ferme is a family-friendly event. Visitors will have the chance to take part in fun and educational activities, such as learning about life on the farm, wagon rides and animal milking demonstrations.
